Key Account Manager

About the role:

The Key Account Manager (KAM) is responsible for driving profitable sales growth and building long-term strategic partnerships with key retail and pharmacy customers. This role ensures portfolio of consumer healthcare brands achieves maximum visibility, availability, and market share, through effective joint business planning, execution of tailored commercial strategies, and strong cross-functional collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, negotiate, and implement annual Joint Business Plans with assigned key accounts, aligning commercial objectives with customer priorities.
  • Conduct regular business reviews to track performance against targets, identify growth opportunities, and resolve challenges.
  • Analyze market data, insights, and category trends to shape customer-specific strategies.
  • Deliver net sales, gross margin, and market share targets for assigned accounts.
  • Lead negotiations on pricing, terms, and promotional investments in line with company strategy and profitability goals.
  • Secure product listings, distribution expansion, and optimal shelf placement in both physical and online channels.
  • Lead and manage the field sales team to ensure effective execution of sales strategies and achievement of targets.
  • Provide coaching, training, and development opportunities to enhance team performance and capabilities.
  • Monitor field activities to ensure alignment with account strategies and company objectives.
  • Work closely with Marketing, and Supply Chain teams to execute tailored promotional activities and ensure on-time delivery of products.
  • Coordinate with Regulatory and Quality teams to ensure all customer-facing materials comply with relevant requirements.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships at multiple levels within customer organizations, becoming a trusted business partner.
  • Represent company in customer meetings, industry events, and joint projects.
  • Track account performance using sales data, promotional ROI analysis, and category reports.
  • Provide accurate sales forecasts and budget updates to support supply planning and financial reporting.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Economics, or related field.
  • 3–5 years’ experience in Key Account Management or Sales within FMCG or Consumer Healthcare.
  • Proven track record of delivering sales growth in a competitive retail or pharmacy environment.
  • Prior experience in team leadership is highly desirable. Strong negotiation, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to translate insights into actionable plans.
  • Proficiency in MS Office.
  • Fluency in Slovenian and English.
  • Commercial acumen and results orientation.
  • Strategic thinking with attention to detail.
  • Strong relationship-building and influencing skills.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced, matrix environment.
  • Adaptability, resilience, and problem-solving mindset.
